Baby Birds!

We had a nest of 3 baby birds in our bush last weekend. By the time we got home from our trip this week, they were gone. So cute!

Shoe dilema--solved!

So, I've been wanting to get Hayden a pair of Robeez sandals for awhile now. However, being thrifty like I am, I refused to pay full price for them. We have some regular sandals for him, but since he's still learning to walk, they are difficult for him to manuever in and they also don't stay on his feet worth a darn. The soft-soled shoes at Target and Walmart are all too small since Hayden has big feet for his age/development level. I have been scouring the Internet for deals on Robeez sandals to no avail. Although it's been somewhat fun, it's also been time consuming (if time was money, right?) Today I called Nordstrom because I knew they are having a big sale. No Robeez sandals available, but they had a great pair of Pedipeds for nearly 1/2 off. They lady put them aside for me and we picked them up tonight. They are awesome!! They fit Hayden perfectly and stay on his feet great. And he walks well in them. I am pleased with myself for finding the perfect shoe for Hayden for a great price.

good weekend

We had a great weekend. Friday was 'Splash Day' at MDO and Carter had a wonderful time. Saturday was rainy so we didn't get out much. Today Carter got an attendance certificate from Sunday School and we had wonderful picnic with my cousin, Renae, and her family in the evening.

Recipe for a mud pie

1.) Have your husband spend an entire Saturday afternoon power-washing the back porch.
2) Wait till the temperatures get into the 90's
3) Buy a water table.
4) Fill the water table with clean water.
5) Introduce 2 boys, ages 1 and 4 into your backyard.
6) Add their mother who is looking for anything to fill that last hour till Dad gets home.
7) Have the phone ring so Mom is distracted.
8) Have boys fill the water table with dirt clods.
9) Have boys use buckets to empty water from the table into the dirt.
10) Have boys play cars in the mud and throw mud on the back porch. FUN FUN!!

Train ride

We got together with our good friends, The Browns, this Saturday for a train ride through Trinity Park in Fort Worth. We always have such a good time with them! Carter and Cassidy had fun playing together and Hayden just went exploring. Good times.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom, my Mother-in-law, and to all my Mommy friends! My one request for Mother's Day was to not have to go grocery shopping on my special day. After church we spent the day relaxing--Heath and Carter put up the gazebo; we went to the dog park; and had snow cones afterward. I got some very special gifts too--red roses; a motherhood necklace from James Avery; a cool thing to put the laptop computer on when I'm using it in the livingroom; and some very cute gifts and cards that Carter made at his schools and Sunday School.

At Carter's school they gave us this questionairre that they had helped the kids fill out. These are Carter's answers:

My mom's name is: Alison

She has brown hair and brown eyes.

She is 33 years old.

She weighs 5 lbs.

Her favorite color is: pink

It makes her happy when: I give her special rocks.
It makes her sad when: I'm not doing what I'm supposed to do.

My mom is the greatest because: because she loves me.

Spring Programs

Carter had both of his MDO Spring Programs this week--one Monday and one Thursday. We really enjoyed them both. Amazingly, Hayden was great too--he really rocked out at the one tonight. I think he wanted to be on stage with his brother. I'll try to get Heath to get a snipet of the video that I can post on here.

Water table fun

The new water table is a success! Carter and I even put it together without the help of Daddy (although it didn't require any tools). :) I thought a water table would be a good option for water fun this summer without having to always have the pool out and all that goes along with that. The funny thing is my friend Lisa offered to give us this exact water table 2 years ago and I didn't think we needed it. Now I end up buying one new--oh well! I couldn't find one on Craigslist within a reasonable driving distance.

Hayden seems to think it's for drinking.

They are both playing cars in the water. Of course!!
