San Antonio Trip

We just returned from an amazing trip to San Antonio. A little over a year ago we had a weekend there where we saw the Alamo and the Riverwalk. But there was little time to do everything. So this spring trip has been in the planning for awhile. We stayed at an awesome hotel, based on a recommendation from friends, the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch. We had a kitchentte in our room which helped with the expense of meals. We ate breakfast and most lunches in our room with stuff we brought from home. The hotel had a great indoor/outdoor pool with a zero entry area that was perfect for Hayden. Carter showed off his swimming skills and spent every day in the pool, sometimes for hours at a time. They also had a lazy river which was my favorite part, although I didn't get to float in it nearly enough.
On the ride down we stopped at the Natural Bridge Caverns which Heath had gone to as a child. It was really neat to descend 180 feet under the Earth and see the stalagtites and stalagmites. Hayden did much better than we thought he would and we rarely had to carry him.
Our next visit was to the Institute of Texan Cultures. I remember coming here as a child, although they have redone it quite a bit since then. I thought the exhibits were very well done, but it's probably best for children around 8-10. My kids were pretty bored.
We then spent the next 3 days alternating our mornings at Sea World and our afternoons at the pool. The kids especially liked Shamu and feeding the dolphins at Sea World. Carter rode his first roller coaster which was neat. The Sea Lion show was pretty cute too.
My mom and siblings joined us Thursday and on Saturday we all drove to Hondo where all my ancestors are from. We enjoyed 2 reunions with the Hartman family before heading back Sunday afternoon. We really enjoyed meeting my cousin James' family--Carter and Levi hit it off great and were 'best friends' by the time we left Sunday.
