We had a fantastic weekend! Heath took off on Friday so we could avoid the crowds and see the new Museum of Living Art (MOLA) at the Fort Worth Zoo. We were so impressed! They have made the exhibits low to the ground so young children can see the reptiles without needing to be picked up. There are a number of water features where you can see underwater through the glass and look at giant turtles and a crocodile. At the kids' request we also had to see the monkeys, zebras, elephants and giraffes before we left. We had a nice lunch at IHOP next to the zoo. Saturday morning we attended a birthday party for Hayden's friends, Jack and Sarah (twins) who are in his class at MDO. The weather was gorgeous and the kids mostly played outside in the sandbox. That led to us making a trip to Toys 'R' Us Saturday afternoon to purchase a sandbox. We had been researching these for awhile and knew what we wanted and it happened to be on sale this weekend. Last year we didn't plant herbs in the herb garden and just let the boys dig in the dirt. This year I'd like my herb garden back so we thought a sandbox was a good idea. We got the blue Crayola sand because it comes off their skin and clothes much better than the regular sand.
Sunday after church and naps we had a babysitter for Hayden and we took Carter to see the Butterfly exhibit at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. They gave us a guide so we could identify the butterflies we saw. Carter was really into telling us about what he saw. Afterward we went to Braum's for some ice-cream.
